Plans moved forward, and we at The Well began to make preparations to leave the concrete behind. With a month or so left on our rental agreement, we stayed put for the time being, but lugged in couches and chairs to make a giant living room. Neil Cole and Tony Dale, respected house church leaders, even came to share about what they had learned about being a church stripped of its walls.
I watched as The Well turned an important corner.
With only a month before we jumped off the cliff, everyone sensed we were on to something exciting. A group of older church members even began meeting together in a house on Wednesday nights, before we had officially moved out.
Our hearts were ten steps ahead. We were ready to shed the building and get naked—free from the steel and stone that hindered us from being the church for quite some time.
Finally, on a Sunday in January 2005, The Well met in its building for the last time. After taking part in the World Vision 30-Hour Famine program, we spent time singing and praying together. And then, after the service concluded, we stepped out over the threshold for the very last time…and never looked back.

I followed a link and ended up here. I am a part of a conventional church now, but see the Lord moving the body toward this mode. It was really neat and encouraging to read your posts. I sat here and read them all just now. It is a fearsome and wonderful thing to follow the Lord’s leading even when it is something that goes against the whole world and even your own logical mind. Usually the Lord really wants us to follow Him and the Spirit in faith and it never looks like it will work by your natural mind. I am in a situation like that but it is not a traditional ministry. It is a business and on we go against all logic or odds. But He has always been faithful to show us the way and He is apparently doing the same for you. As the end times progress, this is the church model that will make sense and be possible when intense persecution begins. You are a forerunner of times to come. Bless you. My name is Ronald Gollner and I lead a house church here in Las Vegas. You are doing what we have long discussed. As a start-up church still in our first year of existence, it’s incredible to read of your experiences and how you have thrived in difficulty.
I would appreciate hearing about the organizational structure of the house churches should you ever have the time to communicate.
Be well, be blessed!
